Central Library: Books Borrowing Facility

Books borrowing facility is available for all the Members of the Central Library.

Library Rules

  • 2.3.b: Books to be issued should normally relate to the subjects the teacher teaches.
  • Members shall come to the library personally to take books on loan.
  • 4.5: Books issued may be recalled at any time and should be returned within 7 days of notice. Late return incurs Rs 1 per day per volume.
  • 4.6: Members with overdue or other charges cannot borrow books or withdraw deposits until dues are cleared.
  • 4.7: Manuscripts including thesis, reference books, art books, rare books, damaged books, etc, shall not be issued.
  • 4.8: Books marked 'not to be issued' or 'counter book' will not be loaned out.
  • 4.9: Borrowed books cannot be lent to others.
  • 4.10: New books will not normally be issued during the first week of display.
  • 4.11: Cost of sending and returning books is borne by the borrower.
  • 4.12: Members are responsible for returning books on time; no separate intimation will be given.

Circulation (Issue - Return) System

All members will receive a SOUL30 Software generated Bar Coded Membership Card with scanned colour photo. This card is required at the Circulation Counter for borrowing books and is strictly non-transferable. Books are issued only to the member.

Security Deposit: Rs 500.00

Annual Fee: Rs 150.00 (Excluded Staff Members)


Clearance (No Dues) Certificate

8.3.a: Members in categories defined in rules 2.5 and 2.6 must obtain a clearance certificate before taking university exams or terminating connection with the university or college. Clearance is issued only after depositing membership cards, readers tickets, and clearing dues. Without clearance, exams may not be allowed, and results may be withheld.
