Profile

The Department is known at the international level for its scientific contribution in the field of retinoids and developmental pattern formation during ontogenesis and regeneration of limbs, Bioinformatics, sonotaxonomy for the identification and monitoring of animals (bioacoustics) and bioprospecting and molecular taxonomy of herpetofauna of the Thar Desert and the Central Aravalis. Natural Resource Conservation, Biodiversity Conservation and Animal Behaviour studies are emphasized in the Department.

It is a resource centre for vermicomposting, Drosophila, Aquaculture, and alternative animal dissection using digital technique and live Zoology.Department is equipped with modern facilities for microphotography, Ultra sensitive biochemistry, sound spectrum analysis, digital alternatives of animal anatomy and physiology.
