Department of Geography

Established in 2022 at Maharshi Dayanand Saraswati University, Ajmer, the Department of Geography was created to advance higher education and research in geographical studies. Despite being a newer department, it aims to become a center for academic excellence by equipping students with the theoretical and practical skills needed to analyze spatial and environmental issues.

The department's curriculum integrates two primary branches:

• Physical Geography: Understanding natural processes on the Earth's surface.
• Human Geography: Examining human activities and their complex relationship with the environment.

A significant focus is placed on contemporary global challenges, including climate change, urbanization, and resource scarcity.

To address these, the department offers postgraduate programs like M.A./M.Sc. in Geography. The curriculum heavily emphasizes fieldwork and practical training, utilizing field surveys, excursions, and research projects. These hands-on experiences teach students essential techniques in data collection, mapping, and interpretation. Additionally, the department fosters an active intellectual environment through regular seminars and workshops to encourage research orientation among students and faculty.
