Eligibility: The faculty may have a maximum of 16 Ph.D. students at any particular time. The vacancies for which are announced separately by the Research Section of the University. Interested candidate must go through the Ordinance 124 for the award of the degree of Doctor of Philosophyof the University and O.124.7 for the eligibility for admission to Ph.D. program. In light of O.124.8 point 3.1 to 3.4 for Interdisciplinary Research, the Department promotes interdisciplinary research. Thus any post graduate student fulfilling criteria of O.124.7 can join the department for Ph.D. especially (but not restricted to) from the subjects of Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Cell Biology (Cytology), Botany, Zoology, Genetics, Plant Breeding, Genetic Engineering, Synthetic Biology, Ecology, Environmental Science, Chemistry, Applied Chemistry, Food Science, Nutrition, Medical Sciences, Pathology, Plant Pathology, Veterinary Sciences, Geology, Environmental Engineering, Biochemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Applications, Bioinformatics, Economics, Sociology and Management Studies.
